Keynote by Mishuana Goeman: Chair and Professor of Indigenous Studies, University at Buffalo
Moderated by Christine Taitano DeLisle: Associate Professor of American Indian Studies and Director of Undergraduate Studies, University of Minnesota Twin Cities

This talk will examine the visual practices of care undertaken by artists and writers who seek to create public engagement in Indigenous cities. In particular, movement and embodiment will be discussed as a practice of these visions of care and justice that create anticolonial geographies. What senses are activated outside the institution? How does Indigenous public art engage the institutionalizing of Indigenous creativity by removing it from inside their walls? How does access to the digital encourage the visual opening of these spaces?

This event is presented as part of the Place and Relations Capstone: Indigenizing Education (April 14, 2023) by the Environmental Stewardship, Place, and Community Initiative with the support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Institute for Advanced Study.
