Before Olson Memorial Highway was built, North Minneapolis was home to a thriving business corridor known as 6th Avenue North. The community had easy access to grocery stores, shopping, barber shops, entertainment, and more. Today, that all is gone and we are left with a highway cutting through our neighborhoods... The story doesn't end there: we can still address the past harms and create a better future for North Minneapolis. This event is an interactive space for you to discover the history of 6th Avenue North and envision a future through Bring Back 6th.

Join us for local, food, music and discovery at all ages event. This concept will showcase the vibrant neighborhood that once stood in the location that is now Olson Memorial Highway, as well as the history of harm that was inflicted on North Minneapolis when the highway was built.

Beyond history, this event features an interactive space to envision a restored 6th Avenue North. You will be able to give your feedback, share your vision, and more at this engaging event.
