NEH grant allows UMN Libraries to pilot digital workflow for interactive flap books

The Wangensteen Historical Library of Biology and Medicine (WHL) and Digital Library Services (DLS) have been awarded a $100,000 National Endowment for the Humanities Research and Development Grant. “Making Meaning from Movement: Piloting a Digital Workflow for Interactive Flap Books” will develop a workflow for digitizing and hosting interactive flap books in online digital collections environments. 

Institute for Advanced Study among those highlighted after U of M earns top spot in global Interdisciplinary Science Rankings

The Institute for Advanced Study was recently highlighted by the University of Minnesota in communications announcing that the U of M was ranked the top public university worldwide and sixth overall in the Times Higher Education’s first-ever Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR).

Jen K. AlVarez Hughes Appointed Managing Director of Institute for Advanced Study

We are delighted to announce that Jen K. AlVarez Hughes has been appointed the next managing director of the Institute for Advanced Study, effective August 19, 2024. 

Dr. AlVarez Hughes will succeed Susannah Smith, who will serve as acting director of the IAS while Bianet Castellanos, IAS director, is on sabbatical for the 2024-25 academic year.
