The Institute for Advanced Study is thrilled to announce the return of IAS Thursdays! For the next two years, the series will explore the theme (In)Justice: featured guests will offer different lenses to approach today’s problems, explore their own visions for what justice might look like, and together we will gain a deeper understanding of how to build a better future and a more just world.

University of Minnesota receives $225,000 grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to explore justice in policing
The Institute for Advanced Study announces that the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded $225,000 to fund a Sawyer Seminar at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities titled Just Policing: The Definition and Possibility of Justice in Law Enforcement.

The Institute for Advanced Study, Liberal Arts Engagement Hub, and The Frances E. Thompson Digital Library for Family Research are pleased to announce Before the Mayflowers Landed, a three-day showcase of Hip Hop inspired films, media, and discussions exploring themes of arrival for present day issues impacting Black People in America, produced by independent journalist and multimedia producer Ralph L. Crowder III.

The TRUTH Project—Towards Recognition and University-Tribal Healing—in partnership with the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council and the 11 federally recognized Tribes in Minnesota, has released their final report, which focuses on the persistent, systemic mistreatment of Indigenous peoples by the University of Minnesota and offers concrete steps leadership can take towards healing.
