Bianet Castellanos Appointed Director of Institute for Advanced Study

We are delighted to announce that Bianet Castellanos has been appointed the next director of the Institute for Advanced Study, effective September 26, 2022. She will provide academic and administrative leadership for the IAS as a systemwide center advancing multidisciplinary scholarship and teaching collaborations, aligned with key commitments of the systemwide strategic plan MPact 2025.

Dr. Jennifer Gunn has served as the director of the Institute for Advanced Study since 2014. Later this year, she plans to return to her tenured faculty position as History of Medicine Endowed Professor in the Medical School’s Program in the History of Medicine. We are immensely grateful to all Jennifer has given to the IAS and its community over the last eight years, and hope you will join us in thanking her for her generosity and service.
