IAS Affiliate Dr. Aparna Katre and the Duluth Center for Women and Children’s (DCWC) Nourish program have received the Exemplary University-Community Partnership Award from the Office of Public Engagement.
This award recognizes one project/program annually for an exemplary community-university partnership that embodies the University of Minnesota’s definition of public engagement.
Dr. Katre is an associate professor of cultural entrepreneurship and Interdisciplinary Studies and Acting Director of DCWC at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She is also co-PI, with Dr. Dana Lindaman (Associate Professor, French, and Chair, World Languages and Cultures) of the new Community-Engaged Food and Environmental Justice Studies Hub at the University of Minnesota Duluth, which received a $500,000 grant from the Mellon Foundation last year. In its first year, the Food Justice Hub has already brought students and community voices into efforts to transform food justice policy and practice through research, internships, and numerous community gatherings.
Congratulations, Dr. Katre and DCWC!
