Tuesdays 4:00-5:00 p.m. and Thursdays 4:00-5:40 p.m.
ROOM 12 Nicholson (Tuesdays) and 125 Nolte Center or Northrop (Thursdays)
Instructor: Susannah Smith, Institute for Advanced Study
In this seminar the best of the University’s research and creative work is brought to you. Every Thursday afternoon, the Institute for Advanced Study offers a presentation—a lecture, film, performance—by leading scholars and artists from around the world and within the University. Seminar participants attend the Thursdays at Four series and meet on Tuesdays to discuss the presentations, which draw upon disciplines across the University. We do supplemental readings related to the presentations and talk with presenters as their schedules allow.
The Spring 2014 Thursdays at Four speakers will explore science and genetics; ADHD, class, and childhood; the 1960s battle for racial justice; choreography and place; Mayan archaeology; storytelling, and more—see the calendar for the complete schedule. This is the perfect seminar to introduce you to the rich variety of work done at the University.
The class meets on Tuesdays for discussion in 12 Nicholson and on Thursdays for the presentation—locations include 125 Nolte Center and the Northrop Seminar Room, Best Buy Theater, and Rehearsal Room. If you have questions please contact Susannah Smith
Registration open to honors students only.
