Research Activities

  • Work-Family Conflicts among Young Adults: examines the predictors and consequences of work-family conflict among young people aged 18 - 30 years. Based on the Youth Development Study, a longitudinal survey of Minnesota youth.
  • The Effects of Family-Friendly Policies on Women in Management: investigates whether employers with generous family policies add more women in management in the 1980s and 1990s. Uses longitudinal data on employers' policies and the demographics of firms.
  • Non-Compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act: explores why some firms do not provide the family leaves required by federal law and how non-compliance occurs. Based on a survey of U.S. employers and interviews with managers.
