News about former IAS fellows

Karen Ho (Anthropology), an IAS fellow in the spring of 2006, was mentioned in an article in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune on the economic crisis, which was followed by her talk at the IAS, available here in its entirety.

Giancarlo Casale (History), an IAS fellow in the fall of 2008, has been awarded a McKnight Land-Grant Professorship for 2009-11.

Hisham Bizri (Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature) received an American Academy in Rome Prize for Endless Summer, a project he began during his IAS residency in Spring 2006. He also received a 2008 McKnight Filmmaking Fellowship from the Independent Feature Project for a five-part film titled Song for the Deaf Ear.

Madelon Sprengnether (English), one of the first cohort of IAS fellows, was named Regents Professor in June 2008.

Robin Stryker (Sociology) received a 2008-09 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, for her project “Social Science in Government Regulation of Equal Employment Opportunity,” which she worked on during her IAS residency in Spring 2007.

Michael Eble (Studio Arts, Morris) – Currently has a solo exhibition
at Grand Contemporary Gallery in Lafayette, Louisiana, of his series
Endangered Lands, completed during his Fall 2007 residency.

Jan Estep (Art) – Recipient of 2008-09 Stanford University’s
Institute for Creativity and the Arts Fellowship for “Searching for
Ludwig Wittgenstein: A word is worth 1/1000 of an image,” the project she began during her IAS residency in Spring 2007.

Jason McGrath (Asian Languages and Literatures - spring 2007) –
Named McKnight Land Grant Professor, 2008.

Elizabeth Beaumont (Political Science - spring 2008) – Named
McKnight Land Grant Professor, 2008.
