How does the role of cultural ambassador influence the artistic process? How do differing artistic practices cross-pollinate and inspire new work? Join Elizabeth Coker, Co-Artistic Director and Dancer in the Seán Curran Company in considering the company’s new work Dream’d in a Dream, which was created during their travels to Kyrgyz Republic, inspired by traditional Kyrgyz musicians. UMN faculty Sonja Kuftinec and Kathleen Collins will join in a lively conversation.

Elizabeth Coker trained at the Washington School of Ballet and the Ballet Nacional de Cuba before joining The Washington Ballet for several seasons. She has been a member of the Seán Curran Company since 2006, and its Associate Artistic Director since 2009.

Dream’d in a Dream was performed at Northrop on October 24 at 8pm.

This event is free and open to the public. It is cosponsored by Northrop and the Departments of Chicano and Latino Studies and Theatre Arts and Dance. Previous dance discussions cosponsored with Northop.
