Free and open to the public
Trained as both a fine art photographer and as a geologist, Jonathon Wells describes his work as an embodiment of his commitment to “fostering dialog about human interaction with the earth through surface/subsurface photo-geologic composites.” His process of creating these photo-geologic composites is both an artistic and investigatory process. The images invite us to contemplate landscape and place in new ways. At the invitation of the IAS Improvising Ecosystem Collaborative, Jonathon will share his work, process and approach to the elemental questions that guide his work:
What is the relationship between humans and earth? What kind of relationship exists between our surface world and the earth layers below? How does our relentless foray into new environs and our endless development of land extend in the downward direction?
Wells was also interviewed by the Bat of Minerva.
