Honors Seminar Thursdays at Four: Across the University and Beyond, Fall 2008
Tuesdays 4:00-4:50 p.m. and Thursdays 4:00-5:30 p.m.
345 Nicholson Hall (Tuesdays) and 125 Nolte Center (Thursdays)
Instructor: Susannah Smith, Institute for Advanced Study
In this seminar the best of the University’s research and creative work is brought to you. Every Thursday afternoon, the Institute for Advanced Study offers a presentation—a lecture, film, performance—by leading scholars and artists from around the world and within the University. Seminar participants will attend the Thursdays at Four series and meet on Tuesdays to discuss the presentations, which will draw upon disciplines across the University. We will do supplemental readings related to the presentations and talk with presenters as their schedules allow.
The Fall 2008 Thursdays at Four series will include presentations by U faculty on their new research in demography, critical patient care, immigration and cultural studies, music, and social activism, as well as internationally known visitors discussing their work in medieval history, the philosophy of law, aboriginal theater, dance, and more.
The class meets on Tuesdays for discussion in 345 Nicholson Hall, and on Thursdays in the Nolte Library (125 Nolte) for the presentation. If you have questions please contact Susannah Smith
Registration open to honors students only.
