Project title: “The Salience of ‘Culture’ in Hmong Immigrant Students’ Education: Parental Involvement, Funds of Knowledge, and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy”

Bic Ngo completed an article, “‘I am worthless because I can’t really help any of my kids’: Hmong Parents’ Cultural Capital and the Paradox of Good Intentions,” which is currently under review for publication; made an invited presentation, “‘We Speak Hmong-lish Here’: Culture Change and the Education of Hmong American Students,” at the Carleton College Education Symposium, Spring 2007; and successfully applied for a University Symposium research grant for “”Time Lag” and Sudanese Refugee Youth: The Transitional Time of Refugee Camp Life.”
