Project title: “Voices from Ex/Isle: Caribbean and Indian Ocean Women Writers Break Geographical Confines”
Njeri Githire spent the semester working on her book project, revising chapters and preparing articles for publication. These publications included “The Female Pioneer in Monique Agénor’s L’Aïeule de l’isle Bourbon” (The French Review, 2010), “New Visions, New Voices: Emerging Perspectives in East African Fiction” (Transition 102, 2009, 182-188), and “The Semiotics of (Not)-Eating: Fasting, Anorexia, & Hunger Strike in Ananda Devi’s Le voile de Draupadi” (University of Nottingham, Nottingham French Studies, 48.1, spring 2009, 82-93).
