Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m. September 6-October 18, 125 Burton Hall
Instructor: Scott Shoemaker. Gerald Vizenor will attend one session.
The prolific fiction and non-fiction works of Gerald Vizenor, White Earth Ojibwe, is the foundation of this close exploration of readings chosen by Vizenor himself. The course entails close readings of each of these chosen works as well as in class discussion of each reading. Vizenor, who will be visiting the University of Minnesota in October, will be present for one class session. Texts we will read may include Manifest Manners: Postindian Warriors of Survivance by Vizenor as well as Winter in the Blood by James Welch and Bleed into Me by Stephen Graham Jones.
