The Fate of Orthodox Art in the Early Soviet Era – A talk with Wendy Salmond

The fate of icons, artifacts and other art created for use within the Russian Orthodox church will be the topic of the 2005 James W. Cunningham Memorial Lecture on Eastern Orthodox History and Culture, presented by the Modern Greek Studies Program at the University of Minnesota. Wendy Salmond, associate professor of art at Chapman University in Orange, California, will speak about the role of Orthodox art in the fall of the Russian Empire and its fate in the early Soviet era during her lecture.
