Does Hope Sound in Music? (Hearing Utopia) – A Lecture by Richard Leppert

Professor Richard Leppert, Department of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature, is the 2004-2005 Fesler-Lampert Chairholder. His research addresses the relations of music, imagery, and associated practices to social and cultural formation, principally revolving around issues of gender, class and race in Europe and America from early modernity to the present. His work is shaped by Critical Theory and the socially grounded aesthetics of the Frankfurt School, Adorno especially, as well as post structuralist cultural theory more generally.
